PAC, Norwood Elementary School Partnership Results in New Conference Room
Norwood Elementary School in Dundalk has a new conference room, thanks to its partnership with Ports America Chesapeake, which was brokered by the United Way of Central Maryland.
The school cut the ribbon on its new addition in December after the company, which operates Seagirt Marine Terminal through a public-private partnership, funded its construction. The Steamship Trade Association of Baltimore Charitable Legacy contributed funds as well.
In addition to paying for the conference room, Ports America Chesapeake made a donation that enabled
the school to purchase a book vending machine for its library. The company also maintains a butterfly garden at Norwood.
“We’ve partnered with United Way of Central Maryland and Norwood Elementary school to help it expand to meet the needs of its students, teachers and the greater community. Many of our employees’ children will be directly impacted by the school’s positive growth,” said Bayard Hogans, Ports America Chesapeake Vice President. “Engaging with our families and communities is one of Ports America Chesapeake’s core values.”

“Cargo continues to move through the Port of Baltimore,” said MDOT MPA Executive Director William P. Doyle.

“Our creative ro/ro solutions for cargo and strong e-commerce abilities, combined with our efficient warehousing and distribution markets, are making
us an extremely attractive option for cargo owners to avoid supply chain
issues at other ports. We look forward to continuing to work closely with all of our partners, including our great truckers, to bring cargo through Maryland.”
