Wallenius Wilhelmsen Wins Deal
to Transport Airbus Parts
Together with its partner, Louis Dreyfus Freight Solutions (LDFS), Wallenius Wilhelmsen has signed a multi-year contract with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the transportation of A220 aircraft components between China and Canada. The contract took effect October 1.

said Torbjørn Wist, Acting CEO of Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
The logistics plan includes a segment of land transport from the production
plant in Shenyang to the Port of Dalian and a crossing of the Pacific Ocean by sea through the Panama Canal to reach the East Coast of the United States. This is followed by a second segment of land transport from the Port of Baltimore — where Wallenius Wilhelmsen operates its own terminal and several processing facilities — to the assembly plant in Mirabel, Canada. This solution offers transport in 48 or 50 days, with two sailings per month.
Richard Powers, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration, welcomed officials from Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Airbus and LDFS to the Port on December 2 for a special event to celebrate the first shipment of Airbus
cargo being discharged into Baltimore. “The new regular service from
Dalian to Baltimore is the first ro/ro connection directly between Dalian and the U.S. East Coast, so it’s a significant milestone,” said Nick Bryan, VP of Sales for France, Benelux and Southern Europe with Wallenius Wilhelmsen. “Baltimore and specifically the Dundalk Terminal was chosen due to the fact that it is one of Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s own terminals with significant experience in handling the import and export of cars as well
as high and heavy and breakbullk cargo of every shape and size. The Port of Baltimore is also ideally suited in terms of its highway connectivity and proximity to the Airbus Assembly Factory in Mirabel, Canada.” 􏰀
