Meet the Nonprofit:
Baltimore Port Alliance
The Baltimore Port Alliance (BPA) is
a coalition of Port-related business representatives who are dedicated to addressing the common interests and challenges of the maritime community in Maryland.
Through relationships, cooperation and communication, the BPA seeks to drive economic opportunities through an informed and supportive constituency.
Our mission is to foster the growth and development of the Port of Baltimore community through the exchange of infor- mation and the creation of partnerships that will advance positive and sustainable impacts on the economic, environmental and community components that make up our Port.
WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION THROUGH SEVERAL COMMITTEES:
Education & Outreach Committee:
This committee works to encourage and support educational partnerships between the BPA members and the population of the Chesapeake region through programs that positively promote and advance the economic and environmental impact of the Port of Baltimore.
Environmental Committee:
Primarily focused on community
and neighborhood outreach, this committee regularly engages with external stakeholders and community leaders to help improve the local surroundings and demonstrate the Port’s role in environmental stewardship. It also informs BPA members on key environmental issues and efforts
facing the Port while working with and supporting the Green Port initiative.
Legislative Committee:
The committee regularly monitors federal, state and local legislation that could affect members of the community. As part of its oversight and review of that information, the committee may make recommendations to the BPA’s Executive Steering Committee and general membership regarding government efforts that could affect the Port.
The BPA also holds a semi-annual job and career expo and sponsors the annual National Maritime Day celebration to further promote careers in the maritime industry.
WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
A good first step is attending the BPA’s
bi-monthly meetings. They take place on the third Friday of every other month beginning in January at 10 a.m. at 3720 Dillon Street.
