“That was a core tenet when John Pruitt founded our company,” he said. “He made it very clear that he wanted to be the best customer-service company in our industry, and we were one of the first dealerships in the country to develop the Customer Service Representative role and place them at the forefront of our customer interactions.”
Another part of Eastern Lift Truck Co.’s success formula is its company culture, which is centered around people, according to Jay Williams, Branch Manager of Eastern Lift Truck Co.’s Baltimore branch in Dundalk. “I’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth, but the culture remains the same. We make sure to take care of our own people and our customers. We’ve kept a mom-and-pop business culture in a corporate-sized entity. Our owner is still a handshake away and when he visits a branch, he greets people by name. He makes everyone feel like they are part of a family.”
That focus on people also extends to community service. Each Eastern Lift Truck Co. location chooses
locally based nonprofits to support with monetary and other donations, including the use of equipment. For the last two years, Williams said, the
